My favourite version of me

The girl I wish I still was!
22
Young
Ambitious
The world really felt like it was at my feet
Hopeful
Innocent
Excited
All the time in the world to make decisions and choices.

I suppose it was a year where I made some really bad choices, things that I regret and wish I could do over.  Alas it came and it went.  I also feel it was a year for me to accomplish something - I don't know what.  A year that taught me to take EVERY opportunity and use it to its full.

I was in the USA, which I really believe God made happen for a reason that I feel I didn't accomplish.

Now I'm 4 years older (gulp), not where that 22 year old version thought she would be.  Looking back she made decisions I would NEVER make now and looking forward from 2008 I'm not who she thought she would be.  Although I'm not much different from 22 year old me - she's part of the girl I currently am, just more life experience and character kind of like a vintage car - keep adding on the miles.

Although I wouldn't say not to a letter from the 85 year old version of me!

Unpacking the Musical Lyric

I love Lady Antebellum and my January 31st song post.

Listening to the lyrics I have a oxymoronic feeling towards the lyric "Another shot of whiskey can't stop looking at the door" which part of that irks me a little, yet makes me laugh and at the same time scoff?  "Another shot of whiskey" Its funny to me that for the guy in the song to have the same sentiments as the girl he needs to be drinking.

For the girl its a case of looking at old photos and taking that nostalgic trip down memory lane.

The juxtaposition humours me!

My favourite line in this song points to how precious human emotions are, what a gift God's given us to be able to feel and express emotion "Guess I'd rather hurt than feel nothin' at all" to me that's beautiful.

Lady Antebellum - I Need You Now, Lyrics

Picture perfect memories scattered all around the floor
Reachin' for the phone 'cause I can't fight it anymore
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now
Said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now
And I don't know how I can do without
I just need you now

Another shot of whiskey can't stop looking at the door
Wishing you'd come sweeping in the way you did before
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one, I'm a little drunk and I need you now
Said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now
And I don't know how I can do without
I just need you now

Guess I'd rather hurt than feel nothin' at all
It's a quarter after one I'm all alone and I need you now
And I said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now
And I don't know how I can do without
I just need you now
I just need you now (wait)
Ooo, baby, I need you now

Out the Window

Its almost the end of January and I haven't achieved any of my resolutions - Ooops.  To be honest I failed on them by January 2nd.  My wanna be resolutions consisted of
1) Read my bible everyday
2) Get up at 5am
3) Step into the fear & conquer it
4) Journal about the happy times (I journal in crisis - if anyone ever had to read my diary they'd think I live a crumby life of misery when in reality the long breaks between my cathartic vents are filled with friends fun, happiness and adventure - my last entry was on the 29th November and those were the resolutions I've just written down).
5) Read 1 book a month (I love reading and don't make the time for it)

The only one I'm achieving is
6) Say NO to narcissistic, arrogant, self-centered boys (this is the type that I go for, I mistake arrogance for confidence).  Case in point the last guy I was seeing in Decemberish-WOW did he rate himself, status driven (car/career "I'm a real business man.") or an ex-bf who signs his emails to me off with his work title - who does that? Haha - I know how to pick them.  I should recruit the egocentric boys I go out with - anyone in the market for one?

My resolutions are out the window already - se la vie or they've taken on new forms.  3) Referred to going overseas I submitted my application and the next day was offered a promotion at work - WOW!  I've shifted from my travel adventure to stepping into the "oh crap I hope I can do this and make it work" promotion I was offered.

The longest, most tedious month of the year is almost over.  I welcome in payday on Tuesday (last pay day was the 20th December) and February's challenges.  Goodbye January and good riddance, your almost Out The Window.

Spirit of Adventure

WOW its happening my girlfriend Denica and I are actually going to Italy!  The whole thing came together in an 18 hour window

Can you handle?

There are so many things that I love about this trip

  • The spontaneity
  • The fact that we're making life happen for ourselves
  • Its an adventure (I like adventure)
  • Our bravery
  • The spirit of it
  • Going somewhere I have always wanted to go
  • Doing it on a whim
  • Taking charge of my life
  • Empowerment
  • Excitement
  • Our Courage
  • Strength
  • The prospects
  • How BIG my life is.

This time I'm going to Italy with a friend and get to experience it as a single.  Hopefully next time I go to Italy it will be with my love.
