On our way out of Yosemite, we moved from the Big Dam rocks to see the Big Dam trees. The red woods (Sequoia's) are HUGE, when you're taking photos you don't know if you should shoot the bottom, the middle or the top and then maybe try paste them all together later.
The black you see on the sequoia's is fire damage. The trees are tough and can survive anything.
