#3 Trip to Monterey 26 October

The sequoia’s marked the end of our Yosemite trip, sad to leave but excited about going to Monterey where it would hopefully be warmer.  We set off through California, driving past small towns, farms and rolling golden California Hills

We arrived in Monterey in the late afternoon, in the competitive spirit established when Justin was in South Africa, we played the ‘who can see the sea first’ game.  I lost, that’s 2 nil to Justin, Indian and Pacific Ocean, at least I still have a chance to reclaim the belt with the Atlantic.

Our hotel was right on the beach,

we re-humanised ourselves (shower and change of clothes) and took a stroll down to the pier for dinner, my meal was Alaskan Halibut, which was really good and new England clam chowder.  Our table over looked the bay, that a huge full moon was shining down on and the entertainment for the night.  This came in the form of seals that were vying for a place on the floating island and fighting as a result of there being no room at the ‘inn’.  Making those seal barking sounds, that remind me of my basset hound Lando, I’d imagine the one at the entrance to the island was saying ‘Dude there’s no space for you on here.’

Dinner and a show!

Not that the photo says much, but its nice to have photos of people.
